Cheap gas – can it be true?

Filed under: Cheaper Utility bills — Tags: , — admin @ 3:50 pm

When you hear about low-cost energy comparison sites that offer you the chance to switch to a cheap gas supplier free of charge, you could be forgiven if the first thought that springs to your mind is the cautious old adage “if it sound’s too good to be true, it probably is”.

But if the very mention of energy price comparison sites starts warning bells ringing, don’t be too quick to scorn these useful online resources.  There may be some cowboys out there, but equally there are some genuinely helpful, impartial sites which provide current, accurate information data about energy suppliers in your postal area – with no strings attached.

So once you’ve logged on to your chosen comparison website, what happens next?  Well, obviously before it can tell you where’s the best place to source cheap gas in your neighbourhood, the user-friendly online ready reckoner needs to know a few things about your current gas bill.

For example, you’ll have to enter your post code, state which payment method you prefer and also give details of how much you’re currently paying.  Within a few seconds, you’ll be presented with a list of low-cost gas suppliers in your area and the different plans they offer (for example: dual fuel, online, economy 7).

Then all you have to do is read through the list to identify which plan, from which of the available suppliers, provides the service which best meets your requirements. Some sites will actually allow you to switch supplier on the spot – others leave you to contact suppliers yourself to finalise the arrangements.

To remain competitive in an increasingly cut-throat market, energy companies are continually improving their offers, so it really does pay to consider a host of different possibilities – and that’s where price comparison sites are so helpful.  They’ll provide a rapid overview of what’s out there, helping you to make an informed decision.

Price comparison websites can be used by both private individuals and companies alike. So whether you’re looking for cheap gas for a flat, a mansion, a small office or a factory, there are bargains to be had if you search in the right places online.

As a result of this heightened competition in the energy marketplace, even when energy prices are rising, there are good deals to be found as suppliers compete for business.  This, of course, is the ideal scenario for any cost-conscious consumer who can carefully compare all the prices on offer before selecting their chosen gas plan and supplier.

Cheap Gas Is Gone!…How To Save On Fuel, Improve Fuel Economy and Drive Fuel Efficient and Green

With the rising cost of gas prices and no end in sight everyone wants to save as much money at the gas pump as they possibly can.

Do you remember when you could fill your tank for 10 BUCKS or less? Who do the oil companies think they’re conning?

You and I can’t control the price of gas but by following the current and up-to-date know-how of fuel economy, the tips and tricks, the truth . . .and not the old myths you can quickly and easily start saving significantly on your gas bill.

There is a lot of expert advice available which you can implement instantly so you can start saving money today. Here are some little known tips and tricks you can try out.

1. Paying for your gas the smart way

One of the ways that you can save money at the gas pump is by using a gasoline credit card. When you have a gas card you’ll be able to get 5 or 10 percent rebate back on the purchase of your gas. This can amount to as much as $75 to $300 each year. Many gasoline companies are joining up with other retailers to give you numerous savings at the gas pump.

2. Buy your gas in the morning or evening

Gasoline becomes denser in colder temperatures. Gas pumps are set to measure the volume of the fuel that you pump and not the density. This means that if you fill up your gas tank in the cooler morning temperatures, or in the colder evening hours, that you’ll be getting better gas price economy. Try to fill up your gas tank later in the evening to avoid the rush of day hours.

The next 2 tips will be surprising to you I’m sure.

3. Buy gas from a busy station

Try to buy your gas from a gas station that is consistently busy and therefore has its underground tanks filled on a regular basis. Gas stations that are slow will have gas that has been sitting in underground tanks for longer periods of time, leading to gas contamination. This contamination can mean that the gas you are purchasing is less powerful than fresh gas and will decrease your fuel economy.

4. Turn the nozzle

When you have finished filling up your gas tank try turning the nozzle of the hose a full 180 degrees. This will drain a bit more gas into your tank; in some cases up to an entire half cup that would otherwise be a bonus to the next gas customer. That half cup each time adds up to a lot over the year!

These are just some of the great ways to save on gas!

Simple Cheap Tips to Save Money on Gas Bills

As the summer recedes into a distant memory, the colder weather is fast approaching, which will have you reaching for the thermostat and increasing your gas bills in order to heat your home. With gas and electricity becoming more expensive though, simply whacking up the temperature could lead to a very expensive autumn and winter.

There are some much cheaper alternatives to consider before reaching for the dial on your thermostat. All of these tips will cost you very little, are ridiculously simple, and can end up saving you a small fortune in gas heating bills.

As the weather starts getting colder you’ll probably start to feel the chill from continuing to wear your summer clothing. The simple answer here is to start wearing more clothes! This sounds mind-bogglingly obvious but many people will stoically wear their favourite cotton T-shirt even in the dead of winter, and then complain that they are chilly. The answer is to dress sensibly for the conditions inside as well as outside; wearing several thin layers will also help to trap air in your clothes which will insulate you against the cold. Wearing the right clothing will allow you to keep your thermostat down and prevent unnecessary gas usage.

Using exactly the same principle with your bedding as your clothing, more layers will keep you warmer at night without having to turn the temperature up. Putting two light summer duvets inside your cover instead of a single thick winter duvet will give you extra insulation. Hot-water bottles are usually only dragged out of the cupboard when you are feeling sick but putting a hot-water bottle in your bed about 30 minutes before bed time can keep you snug without having to resort to expensive  gas heating.

In fact, if you have a programmable thermostat, you can afford to switch off your heating completely at night from about midnight to six o’clock in the morning, as you won’t feel the benefit of heating whilst you are fast asleep cosy in your bed. Switching off your heating at night for six hours can save up to 7.5 per cent from your heating bill, thereby reducing the amount of gas and electricity you consume.
